Video & TV SideView is a TV remote control & TV Guide app from Sony that makes your TV viewing life more convenient. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice Sony's postings regarding changes to their and this app's data collection and processing over the past year? It just makes me wonder whether GDPR and other data privacy laws played any part in Sony's decision to discontinue this app. There's no guarantee it will work on future OS versions (has anyone tried it on iOS/iPadOS 13?), but at least you'll have it to try. Since it's currently unknown whether Sony will publish a successor TV remote app, it just makes sense to have backups of this remote app for now. apk mirror/archive sites like APKMirror which maintain archives of virtually each version released (if you trust that the hosted files are clean): apk file (after it's been installed on your Android device). On Android, it's much easier as there are plenty of app backup programs on the Google Play Store that can copy the Video & TV SideView. I haven't tried to restore the backed-up app with iMazing yet, but verified that it downloaded the. ipa file from the App Store (it's under the "Library" tab after clicking on "Manage Apps" in iMazing):

You do not need to purchase the iMazing program in order to back up your app (.ipa) files, but more features are unlocked with the paid version (and it's good to support the developer). The free features will work to back up the ".ipa" app file to your PC's local hard drive. IMazing is essentially iTunes on steroids for backing up and managing your iOS devices on either Windows or Mac.

TIP - For Apple devices, here's how to download the "Video & TV SideView" iOS app and have an app backup now that you can restore to other iOS devices later, presumably after it's pulled from the App Store:
